Welcome to Wireless Communications

GPRS modem comes in PC Card format

New from Alpha Micro Components, the iTegno 3898i PCMCIA GPRS modem aims to satisfy the growing demand for flexible Internet connectivity. The iTegno 3898i, a multifunctional PCMCIA modem, benefits the user with SMS, voice calls, wireless Internet, e-mail and fax in one compact device and is designed to provide dependable wireless data access solutions without the need for a Wi-LAN 'hotspot'. Its users can now enjoy access to important data and emails anytime, anywhere with the additional ability to send and receive faxes, SMS and make and receive voice calls.

iTegno 3898i is also equipped with quad-band for multiregion coverage and global access.

Competitively priced, the iTegno 3898i provides real-time access to information at a maximum speed of 85.6Kbit/s using GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) high-speed packet-switched data transmission technology.

GPRS is deployed over GSM networks and users need only pay for the volume of data sent and received, which translates into lower costs for longer connection.

iTegno, a compact pocket-sized device, features an embedded antenna facilitating safe usage, transportation and storage, so avoiding complications arising from a fragile external antenna that can be easily damaged.

iTegno 3898i is compatible with all laptops and PCs installed with Win 98/2000/Me/XP and needs no batteries or AC charging.

The modem's compact and versatile shape fits into the PCMCIA slot and is compatible with all laptops that support both 3.3V and 5V PCMCIA slots.

Christos Papakyriacou, Managing Director, Alpha Micro Components comments: 'The iTegno 3898i is an easy way to make your office mobile and get connected at a cost that most potential users will be able to afford'.

'We expect it to become a successful member of our product family for a broad range of consumers'.
